Yesterday the VTS team suited up and headed down to the Brisbane RNA Showgrounds for a day of CCTV and security biz.
Sec Tech 2016, a room of the latest and greatest products and well, people (of course)- in the security technology industry. Exhibitors included Axis, BGW Technologies, Bosch, Canon, Central Security Distribution, CR Kennedy, Dahua Technology, DigiGuard Technology, Hills, HIKIVISION, LSC, Mobotix, Panasonic, QSS, Sylo and Tyco Security Products.
We made our way around the room, snapping some selfies with a few exhibitors…
There was some fantastic products on display, technology has certainly evolved since last year… starting to wonder what 2017 will bring.
Off we went to sit and watch the camera shoot-out. Testing the best CCTV cameras in three different categories: Best low-light/ all-rounder, Best Compact Entry Dome and Best 4K/5MP. We watched the best of the best fight to the death; Bosch, Vivotek, Asix, Canon, Hikvision, Uniview, Dallmeier, Dahua, Panosonic and FLIR.
Overall, we wouldn’t say there were any clear winners, they were all quite fabulous each in their own way. But we must say that the Bosch and the Dahua performed particularly well, especially in the low-light conditions.
The main observation we picked up on was the advancement of 4k… it has improved a considerable amount in 12 months. As have the compact entry domes. In conclusion, it was a close call for all the camera shoot-out entrants – VTS thinks they all did great.
Overall, we had a great day at the expo catching up with friends, sussing out our competition (haha), picking up free pens (yay) and most of all seeing what’s on the market this year.
Cheers for a great day folks.
The VTS team.
